On a journey to gather more resources and discover more about their natural surroundings, the laborers discussed their dissatisfaction with their treatment within the compound. Along their trek, one member stuck out as a leader among them– claiming to have greater abilities that they could utilize in taking back what is theirs. Though he was initially ignored, the claimed wizard Bepo remained the steadfast supporter of revolt within the community. And when the time came to showcase his alleged skills, he used them only in front of his trusted companions as a show of help, loyalty, and power. He could lead them, truly, to a better future. The Wizard Bepo, a powerful mage in a desolate world, shone to his people as a beacon of future equality. He used his powers to help his people travel farther and explore more, and use what they found to the greatest extent. When they came upon sheep, he corralled them back closer to the compound. When the sheep would wander, he built their pens. He was a leader with the power to extend their reach over the world to great heights. The Wizard Bepo would herald a revolution.
Back at the mansion, another play for power was brewing. A pillar of the local community had disappeared, leaving a void among those within the mansion. He had been a leader, but had mysteriously vanished. Bill took it upon himself to lead the search for the man, but unbeknownst to those he was leading, he already knew where the people’s role model had ended up. Six feet underground, dropped in a hole by Bill himself, the pillar of the community was lost to worms and decomposition. Why had Bill, who had been so graciously accepted by those he deceived, acting so cruelly? After traversing the wilderness with his small group, he wanted to take control of the compound. He had been accepted, and now wanted more. Where would his cruelty end? But his charisma kept the mansion-dwellers satisfied, trusting and devoted to Bill’s appearance of great loyalty to their values.
When the man’s body was not found, Bill claimed he must have been lost at sea, and ended the search himself. “We cannot waste our precious time on the past, instead we must rebuild.” He rallied those who supported him, and dismissed those in the lodge, who he fully deemed simply laborers, below him in status. He deemed everyone below him, reveling in the respectful gazes of those who had accepted him and scourging those who thought him cruel and unfair. The laborers schemed to dethrone him after he usurped the power they had been hoping to share. Bill needed to be taken down.
